Bro. Mohamed Yahyabhoy Papar was 40 years old when he saw the light of freemasonry. Residing at 247 Ripon Road, Byculla he was initiated on January 19,1965, passed on February 16,1965 and raised on March 16,1965. In 1937 he joined the Congress, then the Indian National Army. A very popular brother he always remained in the background but had the good of the lodge foremost. Always a distinguished figure dressed in a white national dress Bro. Papar was very outspoken if he felt the good of the lodge was not looked into, especially the charaties. He introduced several good brethren to the lodge and was instrumental in starting a school in a village near Wada. This project earned the lodge the coveted Justice Dinshaw Pirosha Madon Trophy. Bro. Papar owned a farm near Wada with a lovely outhouse, where he had a factory the APEX PACKAGING WORKS. He spent atleast a part of the week attending to his business at Wada. His son helped him in the business. On several occasions Bro. Papar has invited the brethren of the lodge to spend a few days at his farm in Wada. His wife Shirin also accompamied him to see that all facilities and amenities are available. Finally every year he made it a point to see that the children of his village were invited
to the Independence Day Function when he distributed sweets and clothes to them. The offices Bro. Papar held were Steward 66-67; Swd. Br. 67-68; Organist 68-69 and 69-79; Almoner 70-71; I.G. 71-72 and Steward several times again till his demise.
He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on April 6, 2001.
W. Bro. Vinod Maneklal Nanavati became a freemason at the age of 35 years. An iron and steel merchant, he was initiated on March 17,1964, passed on August 18,1964 and raised on April 20,1965. A very active brother, he held a number of offices in the lodge. Steward 66-67; Br. V.S.L 67-68; I.G. 69-70; S.D. 71-72; J.W. 72-73; S.W. 73-74
and master of the lodge in 74-75. IPM in 75-76 and Steward again 78-79. Pressure of work and ill health combined to keep him away from the lodge.
He resigned a few years later. He was called to the Grand Lodge Above.
Bro. HANIF MURAD was initiated on February 15,1966, passed on December 20,1966 and raised on January 21,1969. He resigned on February 10,1970.
Bro. AMER EBRAHIM MUNAIM
was initiated on August 16,1966. Passed on October 18,1966 and raised on July 18,1967. He was Steward of the lodge for a year. He resigned on July 21,1987.
Bro. SULTANALI SHEKHALI BARODAWALA was initiated on August 16,1966, passed on October 18,1966 and raised on July 15,1969. He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on July 24,1981.
Bro. NARENDRA CHHOTALAL JOSHI was initiated on September 20,1966, passed on October 18,1966. He resigned on August 27,1967.
Bro. KRISHNAKANT CHUNILAL MEHTA was initiated on November 15,1966, passed on December 20,1966 and raised on January 17,1967. He resigned on January 19,1972.
Bro. SOHRAB J. P. C. SHROFF as initiated on February 21,1976 passed, on July 16,1967 and raised on August 26,1967. He resigned on September 23,1972.
Bro. KRISHEN KUMAR SHARMA was initiated on September 16,1967, passed on April 15,1959 and raised on July 16,1969. He resigned on September 23,1972.
At the installation meeting of the lodge M.W. the Grand Master, M.W.Bro. Bhogilal Chimanlal Shah and R.W. the Regional Grand Master (WI), R.W.Bro. Pestonji Phirozshah Kapadia and their respective deputations were present. There were 16 visitors at the meeting and 68 brethren on the roll of the lodge at the beginning of the year. In a very elegant manner W.Bro. Jimi Dhanjibhoy Mistry installed master elect Bro. Naushir J.P. Shroff in the Eastern Chair. The address to the newly installed master was delivered by W.Bro.Dr. Homyar Dinshaw Dastoor and to the wardens by W.Bro. J.P.C. Shroff. W.Bro. Dinubhai Labshanker Bhatt was nominated to the Board of General Purposes and Bro.Dr. B.K.Banerji, Bro.Dr. Fez Hiptoola and Bro.Dr. Noorodin Esufali Haveliwala were appointed to the Permanent Committee. The charities of the lodge were excellent and further contribution was made by W.Bro. Jimi Mistry. Durring the year W.Bro. Bhaidas Shroff was nominated to take part in the Masonic Golden Jubilee of R.W.Bro. Pestonji Phirozshah Kapadia. Lodge Islam No. 587 SC held a funeral lodge service for our departed brother W.Bro. Gamam Manilal Mehta.
Initiation: Mr. Krishnakant Chunilal Mehta proposed by W.Bro. Amirudduin Haveliwala and seconded by Bro. Heptabhoy on November 15,1966. Mr. Sohrab J.P.C. Shroff (lewis J.P.C.Shroff) was proposed by W.Bro. J.P.C. Shroff and seconded by W.Bro. N.J.P. Shroff on on March 21,1967. Mr.KrishnaKumar Sharma on September 19,1967.
Passing: Bro. Murad and Bro. Mehta on December 20,1967. Bro. Shroff on July 18,1967.
Raising: Bro. Zoomkhawala and Bro. Mehta on January 17,1967. Bro. Shroff and August 26,1967 and Bro.
Munaim on July 18,1967.
