Year 27, 1961 GLI: W. Bro. Amiruddin Esufali Haveliwala

 This was the last meeting under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England as the Grand Lodge of India was to be consecrated on November 24,1961 at New Delhi.

The TWENTYSEVENTH INSTALLATION MEETING of Lodge Reginald Spence No.5514 EC was held at Freemasons Hall, Ravelline Street, Fort, Bombay 1 on November 7,1961. The office bearers were:

The regular installation meeting was advanced to November 7,1961 so the brethren could go in large numbers to New Delhi for the consecration of the Grand Lodge of India.

Rt.W. the District Grand Master, Rt.W.Bro. Bhogilal Chimanlal Shah accompanied the deputation were invited to attend the meeting. W.Bro. Abdul Kaiyum Esufali Haveliwala installed his brother Bro. Amiruddin Esufali Haveliwala in a fitting manner. There were 9 visitors at the meeting and W.Bro. Dinubhai Labhshanker Bhatt was nominated to the Board of General Purposes. There were 60 members on the roll of the lodge and Bro. J.D. Mistry, Bro. N.J.P. Shroff and Bro. H.D. Wadia were members of the Permanent Committee. The financial position of the lodge was satisfactory. As this was the last meeting under the English Constitution the Warrant of the lodge was sent to the United Grand Lodge of England for cancellation.

At the next meeting dated December 12,1961, W.Bro. Bhaidas Shroff read the Warrant from the Grand Lodge of India whilst the brethren stood with the sign of reverence. W.Bro. A.E. Haveliwala was the last master of the lodge under the EC and he first master under the GLI.

Bro. SHRICHAND GANAGRAM KEWLARAMANI was initiated on December 19,1961. Passed on March 20,1962 and raised on September 18,1962. He was excluded on December 22,1967.

Bro. SHIRAZ MOMAHEDBHOY LOYAWALA was initiated on December 19,1961. Passed on March 20,1962 and raised on September 18,1962. He was Almoner; I.G; and Asst. Secretary of the lodge. He resigned soon after.

Bro. JACOB BENNEX CHACKO was initiated on January 16,1962. Passed on August 21,1962 and raised on April 16,1963. He was excluded on Decembar 22,1967.

Intiation: Mr. Shrichand Gangaram Kewalramani and Mr. Shiraz Mohamedbhoy Loyawala were initiated on December 19,1961. Mr. Taher Khanbhai Bagasrawala and Mr. Jacob Bennex Chacko on January 16,1962; Mr. Firoz Numannbhai Siamwala on May 18,1962 and Mr. Salebhai Esufali Sabir on October 16,1962 (EM).

Passing: Bro. Kewalramani, Bro. Loyawala, Bro. Bagasrawala and Bro. Siamwala all on July 17,1962.

Raising: Bro. Kewalramani, Bro. Loyawala and Bro. Bagasrawala on September 18,1962; Bro. Siamwala on October 16,1962

Resignation: Bro. Kodikal resigned on April 17,1962 and Bro. Malhotra on April 16,1962.

W.Bro. J.P.C Shroff requested that he be put on the absent list from December 1,1961.
