The TWENTYEIGHTH INSTALLATION MEETING of Lodge Reginald Spence No.109 GLI was held at Freemasons Hall, Ravelline Street , Fort, Bombay 1 on November 20,1962. Bro. Moshin Mohamedbhai Doctor was installed in the Eastern Chair and the officers for the year were:

Bro. Dr. Fez Hiptoola was known as a very likeable mason though . He was attached to the Central Hospital at Belasis Road. He was a joining member on February 16,1960. A brother of Lodge Cornwallis No.5062 EC he was Almoner in 62-63; Asst. Secretary in 64-65; Secretary in 65-66; Chaplin in 66-67; S.W. in 67-68 and Master Elect in 68-69.

He was called to the Grand Lodge Above just before becoming master of the lodge.

W. Bro. Dr. Noododin Esufali Haveliwala saw the light leading to freemasonry in September 1959. He was proposed by W.Bro. A.E. Haveliwala and seconded by W.Bro. A.K.E. Haveliwala. A family physician, he resided at Jal Darshan, Napean Sea Road and had his practice at Two Tanks, Mohamedally Road, Bombay. He was

initiated on September 19,1959, passed on April 22,1960 and raised to the degree of master mason in May,1960.

An enthusiastic freemason he was I.G. in 62-63; J.D. in 63-64; S.D. in 64-65; Asst. Secretary in 66-67; Chaplin in 67-68; J.W. in 68-69 and S.W. in 69-70. He was installed as Master in 70-71 and was IPM. the following year.

Always willing to work at installation meetings he was always present when needed. The ranks he has received are P.R.G.Marshal.

He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on August 2,2009.

In the presence of 17 visitors Bro. Moshin Mohamedbhai Doctor was installed in the Chair of King Solomon in an immaculate manner by W.Bro. Amiruddin Esufali Haveliwala. R.W. the Regional Grand Master. R.W.Bro.

Pestonji Phirozshah Kapadia and the deputation from the Regional Grand Lodge of Western India lent colour to the occasion. The charge to the newly installed master was given by W.Bro. Abdul Kayium Esufali Haveliwala and to the wardens by W.Bro. Dinubhai Labhshanker Bhatt.

At the beginning of the year there were 62 brethren on the roll of the lodge. The general fund, the charity fund and the individual accounts were in good position. Several charities were announced and it was proposed to donate an amount of Rs. 251/- to the Defence Fund of India. Bro. J.D. Mistry, Bro. H.D. Wadia and Bro. A.H. Zainulabedin were elected to serve on the Permanent Committee.

The other events during the year was a lecture delivered by W.Bro. Amiruddin Esufali Haveliwala on July 16,1963. The subject was “What should be Death to a Freemason”.

During the year W.Bro. Bhaidas Rugnathdas Shroff was made an honorary member of the Grand Lodge of Bolivia in South America.

Initiation: Mr. Taher Abdul Kaiyum Mama proposed by W.Bro. A.K.E. Hveliwala and seconded by W.Bro.

Y.M. Degani was initiated on August 28,1963.

Passing: Bro. Sabir on December 18,1962 and Bro. Mama on October 17,1963. Raising: Bro. Bagasrawala and Bro. Sabir on March 19,1963.

Rssignation: Bro. W.H. Brett resigned on January 7,1963 He sent a donation of Rs. 50/- to the lodge. Bro. C. B. Vyas was put on the absent list on November 1,1962 as per his request.

There was a change in the byelaws of the lodge and the subscription per month was raised from Rs. 6 to Rs. 8.

The first ladies nite was held during this year.
